World’s oldest gymnast: Johanna Quaas still performs at the age of 92!
Johanna Quaas is a gymnast from Germany, who keeps her honorable place in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest acting gymnast in the world. This woman is 92 (!) years old, but she does not only feels great and looks great, but also participates in competitions in gymnastics. It is worth noting that even young people are not able to perform some of the exercises included in her program.

She was born in Germany on November 20, 1925, in a family of gymnasts, and started to go in for sports in early childhood. Unsuccessful in gymnastics, as a child Joanna was engaged in handball.

The longest part of her life was associated with sports: Johanna worked both as a coach and a teacher of physical education in school. She took up gymnastics when she turned 30, just to keep her body in a good shape.
Up to thirty years old she took part in competitions and studied at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg and coached. Later she trained coaches and became co-author of a text book on gymnastics (“Gerätturnen”).
At the age of 57, Johanna Quaas resumed her gymnastic performances at veteran competitions. And has been performing for almost 30 years!
