Swiss engineers beat the world record! This new funicular railway overcomes absolutely extreme slope (VIDEO)
Switzerland takes machinery to the absolutely new level. A new funicular, which connects Schwyz and Stoos, is supposed to be opened on December, 17. It is called Stoos Standseilbahn. Four cabins will hold 136 passenger at once. The whole 1738-metres route takes only from 3 to 5 minutes. The maximum speed is 10 m/s.
The slope reaches extreme 110% (47.73°) incline in some areas. This is a new world record! The floor in the barrel-shaped cabins is adjustable, so the passengers can stand upright even during the ascent on the steepest sections. It’s a fantastic piece of work!
