Snails are special creatures: in these photos there is all the essence of their magical tiny world
Vyacheslav Mishchenko is a very talented Ukrainian photographer who has always enjoyed observing the tiny world of insects. That special miniature world which fascinated him right away, when he was just a child, and which led him into adulthood to the desire understand it even more. The protagonists of his photos are mainly snails, but not only: dew drops, blades of grass and acorns that have just fallen from the trees turn into a fabulous environment in which little friends live.
Photographer recalls that his father often took him to collect mushrooms in the woods near his home and it is precisely on these occasions that he must have developed an unexpected passion for all those small insects (and not only) encountered along his way: ants, lizards , snails, spiders… They all were so unique!

“As I grew older, my interest in photography also grew,” said Vyacheslav, “so I decided I wanted to capture these magical scenes through the lens of a camera.”

Now he captures all types of insects he manages to catch with his camera, but admits that his heart has been particularly affected by snails. For the Ukrainian photographer, snails are special creatures, not only for their curious and simple shape at the same time, but also for their extraordinary behavior.

“It’s all a matter of luck: being in the right place at the right time,” explained Vyacheslav about his way of photographing. The “stories” that we can read through his images are stories that exist in nature and that the photographer has never dreamt to change.

Vyacheslav’s father worked as a photographer for local newspapers and often took his family to camp in the middle of nature; little boy, therefore, had these two elements in his life right from the start. It is normal that as an adult he has maintained his passion for Nature and photography.

Photographer also experimented with other artistic disciplines, especially painting, to which he devoted himself most once he was married and with children. The advent of digital, however, allowed him to start exploring the expressive world of Nature as he had always known it.
