Neglected grandeur: abandoned Italian villas captured by photographer
Eleonora Costi is an Italian-based photographer. She travels across her country to explore abandoned villas and castles. This kind of art helps her to remind that there’s nothing permanent in our world and allows to show the obscured beauty of dilapidating grandeur.

In some places there’s a feeling that the owners would step from around the corner right now. Wall paintings, family photos, old furniture… even dining desks are ready for dinner! Lots of things have preserved in quite a good condition despite stream of time.
Some of the villas in central Italy are destroyed due to the earthquakes.
Others feature perfectly preserved frescoes, stucco and interior items.

One of the most famous abandoned places in Italy is Sammezzano Castle in Toscana.

Hotels, night clubs and even monasteries also deserve attention.
Let’s hope that this emotional project will help to recover this amazing beauty from ruins.
