The Eternal City woke up under a blanket of snow. It’s amazingly beautiful!
From time to time nature brings us different surprises. Siberian storm called “Beast from the East” has brought heavy snowfalls to Europe. Even the most unexpected places, such as Rome and even Naples are covered with amazing white blanket.
It’s the first occasion of heavy snow in the Eternal city in the last 6 years and only the fourth one in the last 53 years.
Piazza del Campidoglio, Colloseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Roman Forum, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and other remarkable places look even more majestic!
Unfortunately, freezing temperatures have claimed at least four lives. All the schools are closed and emergency shelters for the homeless are opened. Rome features Mediterranean climate, and low temperatures, combined with chilling winds from Siberia, are a real disaster here.
Still, locals and tourists enjoy the beauty of Nature. It is so exciting to go out for a rare snowball fight or walk in the slush!
Just some inches of snow are enough to create an atmosphere of real Wonderland!
